"In January 2007, together with Ayreen Anastas, the art group e-Xplo (Rene Gabri, Erin McGonigle, Heimo Lattner) undertook a several week-long trip through the United Arab Emirates. From this trip, recordings of songs emerged sung by those "minorities" that make up 85% of the population as a cheap labor force and have no social-political voice. The local press is forbidden to report on the fate or concerns of these people. As part of the art biennial in the emirate of Sharjah, loud speakers were installed in the city from which the songs of these migrant workers were broadcast. A selection of the songs accompanied by a series of texts and an interview with the philosopher Mladen Dolar has been published."Project was called "I LOVE TO YOU"
"We begin our work with the simple concept of recording songs from the workers - from pakistan, india, afghanistan, bangladesh, china, iran, egypt, syria, palestine, iraq, phillipines, ... to call attention to their voices, which politically speaking remain unheard. What unfolds in the process is a series of encounters and disjointed glimpses into the possible future of laborers worldwide."
